We are constantly reviewing our policy and trying to find new ways to improve the way we work to ensure we are as “green” as possible.
We aim to work with suppliers who adopt an ethical policy towards their products and also their work force. Some suppliers are already introducing recyclable packaging for their products. We are actively offering these to our customers.
We try to only use environmentally friendly cleaning products in our shops. (Due to Covid-19 we have increased the use of anti-bacterial products as per Government Guidelines and Health & Safety Risk Assessments to keep our staff and customers safe).
We offer a large range of refill cleaning products and toiletries free from parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate and other harsh chemicals which may be bad for our customer and our environment. We actively encourage our customers to bring their own containers therefore reducing single use plastics / products.
To enable us to provide an excellent local delivery service whilst caring for our environment, all deliveries are taken in our VW ID.3 (100% electric vehicle). Therefore, we reduce our carbon emissions.
All of our cardboard and paper is uplifted for recycling. Our main supplier of chilled and frozen goods provides all of its packaging in recyclable materials.
We do not offer plastic carrier bags for sale to our customers. We only sell biodegradable or 100% compostable, starch-based bags.
We actively promote Refill.Org.Uk by offering free water refills to anybody, not just customers, therefore cutting back on the need to purchase water in single use plastic bottles.
When we chose to have our website developed it was important to us to use a company that shared our green ethics. We used From This Day for their own environmental ethics and also because this would ensure that our website is hosted on web servers which are run using renewable energy.
Highland Health Store started trading in 1986 as a family business.
As a local, ethical, and environmentally friendly company, we have a small team employed who share our views. Moreover, we are always looking for ways to improve our impact the environment.
